Bay State Extracts now offers concentrates for all of our Trifecta series formulas, as well as broad spectrum distillates and single cannabinoid isolates.
Concentrates are hemp extracts that have been processed to remove unwanted plant materials and leave only the desired active cannabinoids. They’re purer and more potent than many other hemp products, and highly versatile in use.
The extraction process always begins with using a solvent (we use food-grade ethanol) to retrieve raw material from the hemp plant, known as crude hemp oil. This is essentially like squeezing lemons before you make lemonade; crude oil is the “juice” you need, although not quite ready to drink.
Impurities (excess materials such as fats, waxes, and lipids) in the crude oil are then frozen out through a process called winterization. That oil is now densely concentrated with just cannabinoids, and ready to be further refined into various consumable forms. At Bay State Extracts, we in-house manufacture:
The oil is heated to a temperature that evaporates remaining impurities while the cannabinoids condense into a viscous, amber-colored oil that’s 95%+ pure.

A solvent is added to the oil, causing the cannabinoids to crystallize. Those crystals are separated from the solution and dried into 99% pure, isolated cannabinoids.

Our Trifecta series formulas are now available in 95%+ pure, powerful, crystalline concentrates.

Solvents are necessary chemicals for extracting cannabinoids, however, responsible manufacturers can and should take the proper steps to remove residue after use. (Always read the third-party test results/COAs before consuming any hemp products.)
Most residual solvents are vaporized during the distillation process, and we utilize vacuum heating technology to ensure all concentrates are clean as possible.
In Massachusetts, there’s a residual solvent limit of 1ppm—meaning the maximum amount of solvent allowed to be present in cannabis products is 1 part solvent per 1,000,000 parts of product. Our concentrates not only comply with state guidelines, but have some of the highest safety standards in the country.
Concentrates are adaptable in any routine because they can be completely tailored to your experience level and desired effects. Some of the most popular applications are:
Load a small “dab” of concentrates into a traditional or electric dab rig. This method is for more experienced users, as it will have the fastest onset and most intense effects.
Heat the concentrates in a concentrate vaporizer or dab pen. Vaping allows for casual consumption throughout the day, and gradual onset of effects.
Concentrates can be infused into butter, salves, or other carriers for making edibles and topicals. Effects will have a much slower onset but can still be strong and long-lasting, which is ideal for nighttime or heavy duty relief.
Their workability also makes it easier to combine broad spectrum concentrates with THC from marijuana dispensaries to customize and enhance your experience. For example, a CBD isolate or our Blackout concentrate could be heated along with THC in a dab rig for an entourage effect that promotes ultra-calming results.
Make sure to start with a low dose when introducing any new hemp concentrates to your routine. The greatest advantage of their precise formulation is the ability to really explore the natural benefits of different cannabinoids, and find the exact dosing that meets your needs.
