The Formula For All-Day Balance: The Trifecta Routine

Inspired By The Entourage Effect

The “entourage effect” theory proposes that the individual compounds (cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids) that make up the cannabis plant interact synergistically, and not only enhance one another’s effects on the endocannabinoid system (ECS) when combined but also create their own distinct benefits.

The ECS manages many critical functions in your body to maintain homeostasis, such as sleep, mood, appetite, and pain perception. It’s comprised of:

  • Endocannabinoids – Naturally occurring molecules that regulate these processes
  • CB1 and CB2 Receptors – Receptors found in the brain, tissues, nervous and immune systems that endocannabinoids bind to
  • Enzymes – Proteins that break the endocannabinoids down afterwards to control the duration of effects

In the 1990s, researchers found that the cannabinoids in cannabis operate remarkably similarly to the endocannabinoids in our body and can also bind to receptors, allowing them to modulate our ECS.

The entourage effect suggests that we can maximize that modulation by combining a broader range of cannabis compounds. Think of it as an orchestra, where individual musicians play in harmony to create a stronger, unified performance. Cannabinoids are like instruments that can be arranged for a more nuanced performance in the human body.

In short, cannabinoids work best when they work together—and there are dozens of cannabinoids currently being studied for their unique benefits. This means that the primarily THC- or CBD-focused products on most dispensary shelves could only be utilizing a fraction of the plant’s potential. Additionally, these products are offering the same limited formulas to meet consumers’ varying needs.

That’s why Bay State Extracts set out to extract these lesser-known rare and minor cannabinoids, and formulate more diverse and effective solutions with our premiere Trifecta series. Each Trifecta blend features three core cannabinoids, intentionally crafted to produce targeted  “entourage effects” for morning, daytime, and evening use.

The Trifecta Routine

MORNING: Find Your Bliss
CBC + CBG + CBDV (4:3:1)
Trifecta Bliss is made for days when coffee isn’t cutting through the brain fog and you’re struggling to find your vitality and motivation. Studies have reported that CBC may have its own mood-boosting effects, but its main role in Bliss is being the ultimate enhancer for CBG and CBDV’s wide range of rejuvenating properties. Together they tackle all the symptoms of a slump, so you can face the day content and clear-headed.

DAYTIME: Just Chill
CBD + CBN + CBG (2:1:1)
Trifecta Chill is intended to be the anytime soother—the formula you reach for whenever you need to unwind—so we knew it had to be CBD-dominant. CBD is incredibly popular for promoting feelings of balance and serenity without being intoxicating, while CBN is known for its ultra-calming. The result is a perfect dose of head-to-toe tranquility that can be taken whether you’re just hanging out or heading to work.

EVENING: Time to Blackout
CBN + CBC + CBD (4:3:1)
Trifecta Blackout is aptly named for its trio of powerhouse cannabinoids. We employed the sensory-soothing superstars for our evening formula, letting CBN’s calming qualities take center stage while CBC and CBD alleviate the common roadblocks to restful nights. It’s the ideal no-melatonin solution to stop tossing and turning without feeling grogginess the next morning.

Our Commitment to Innovation

Cannabis science is still in its relatively early stages, so the entourage effect has not been extensively studied yet; however, we’re inspired by its whole-plant philosophy because we believe as the research continues to evolve, it’ll continue uncovering benefits in every molecule. The Trifecta series is our example of how the industry can harness and expand access to the plant’s full potential along the way.

As always, we encourage that you consult with a healthcare professional before adding Trifecta to your daily routine.
